IT industry develops in Armenia, PM saysMarch 16, 2012 - 15:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with members of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) council at a business breakfast on March 16 to discuss prospects of development and future projects of IT sphere. In particular, the participants noted that IT industry sees huge development in Armenia now, with various international companies entering the local market. Also, labor force is in high demand. In this context, staff training issue was discussed, particularly the establishment of Armenian national engineering laboratory in the State Engineering University of Armenia, jointly with the National Instruments company. UITE executive director Karen Vardanyan voiced contentment with the process of program implementation saying he believes it will be successfully accomplished. Participants also touched upon the development of IT industry in provinces. In this context, activities related to technopark in Gyumri were discussed. An idea of implementing the same program in Vanadzor as well was proposed. Involvement of the IT companies in promotion of the military production was also discussed at the meeting.
