IN US A CONCERT WILL BE HELD TO SUPPORT CAMPAIGN FOR RECOGNITION OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN OTTOMAN TURKEY IN 1915
April 24 a concert of System of a Down popular US rock group devoted to the 89-th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey will take place in the Greek Theater of Los Angeles. As reported by the Armenian National Committee of America, the concert aims at supporting the organizations, who come for the US Congress considering and passing a bill on recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Although in the course of his election campaign in 2000 US President George Bush pledged to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide. He and his Administration later took all measures to prevent the passage of the corresponding resolution. In the words of the group vocalist Serj Tankian, over 100 organizations have supported the campaign for adoption of the Genocide Resolution by the Congress. "Vatican and the European Parliament, as well as the governments of France, Italy, Sweden, Russia, Belgium and many other countries have officially acknowledged the Armenian Genocide. Now it is the turn of the US," Serj Tankian noted.
