Poll names RPA and Prosperous Armenia as current election race leaders

European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA) published findings of its poll titled “Poll: A Snapshot of Pre-Electoral Armenia”.

The poll was conducted by EuFoA between February 29 and March 5, 2012. Its findings published at a press conference in Yerevan rank Prosperous Armenia party as the leader of the election campaign, with 41% of votes.

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia comes second with 37% of votes, followed by ARF Dashnaktsutyun (5%), opposition Armenian National Congress (4.8%), Orinats Yerkir (4.5%) and Heritage with 3.9 % of votes.

17% of respondents have not decided yet whether they would vote or not, 2.5% said they won’t participate in the voting, 7% refused to name their favorites, while 9% stated they will not vote for any party.

The questionnaire comprised 21 questions related to the political preferences of the voters.

The error margin makes about 2.4%, poll organizers say.

The poll was conducted by Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting (IPSC) and EuFoA, with international polling company TNS opinion providing extensive quality control and supervision. 1600 interviews were conducted in all 10 provinces of Armenia and in all Yerevan communities.

EuFoA has commissioned the poll for several reasons, in particular, to raise public awareness about the elections, issues important for the people, and public attitudes towards politics, political parties and their leaders, and to increase public transparency and trust in a realistic picture of political life in Armenia.
