MORE DEMOCRACY IN NKR THAN IN AZERBAIJANThis is the conclusion of the experts of the "Freedom House" American organization. The "Freedom House" American organization engaged in protection of human rights, summing up the results of the passing year spread its traditional report reflecting the situation with the political rights and civic freedoms in the world. The document based on a serious analysis carried out by the experts of the organization during a year, divides the states for three types: "free", "partially free" and "unfree". Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh are included in the second group while Azerbaijan was qualified as a "not free country" naming it as a country where there are no political rights and the civic freedoms are being violated regularly. ![]() PanARMENIAN.Net - It should be noted that the criteria applied by the "Freedom House" are rather severe. Not all the European countries have managed to overcome the level set for the free countries. There is no CIS country in the list of free countries. So, including Armenia in the second group means that the American right protectors consider us one of the most progressive countries of the CIS regarding the political rights. Seven from 12 CIS countries are recognized as "unfree". We are neighboring with Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. Commenting on the spread report, the "Freedom House" notes the reasons for which Azerbaijan was included in the list of countries without democracy. The document reads that this is a result of an "unfair voting during the Presidential elections and of mass falsifications during the counting of votes". Azerbaijan is among countries as Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Chad, Somalia, Nigeria... The evaluation of Nagorno Karabakh is also very interesting: for the first time such an influential organization recognizes the fact that in NKR the main political rights and civic freedoms are protected better than in Azerbaijan. Karabakh included in a separate list of unrecognized countries and so-called "disputable territories", is qualified as a region with medium level of democracy. We shall note that Abkhazia and Prednestrovia are considered "unfree". The conclusions of American right experts have a great importance and, without doubts, will weaken the arguments of Azeris trying to find basis for their claims on Karabakh. Probably, from now on the civilized world will be more comprehensible towards the choice of the Karabakh Armenians who defend their legal right for self-determination. It is natural that the Karabakh people establishing a civil society do not even think of a possible dependence from the neighboring country with totalitarian regime. ![]() ![]() Who is who in the web of so many Sargsyans Controversy in quotations Split of opposition votes There will be no ideal solution ![]() ![]() ![]() 6 simple facts about Armenia–Karabakh–Azerbaijan triangle ![]() Main arguments of Armenia’s first President ![]() Bizarre election promises ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
