HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF ARMENIA, AZERBAIJAN, GEORGIA AND TURKEY UNITE IN CAUCASIAN CONSORTIUM FOR ACADEMIC COOPERATIONJuly 8, 2004 - 20:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Representatives of 6 higher education institutions of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia have concluded an agreement in Istanbul to form the Caucasian Consortium for Academic Cooperation. As reported by Mediamax news agency, Yerevan State University, Yerevan University of Linguistics after Bryusov (Armenia), Tbilisi State University, Tbilisi Institute of Asia and Africa (Georgia), Baku State University and Khazar University (Azerbaijan) became part of the consortium. Representatives of Sabanci University and Near East Technical University (Turkey) also joined the consortium. The Center for Global Peace of American University (Washington) supported the idea of creation of the Consortium, proposed by Khazar Baku University President Hamlet Isahanli. Since 2002 representatives of higher education institutions of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan have been meeting systematically and discussing cooperation prospects.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
