UNDP REPRESENTATIVE DISCUSSED WITH ARMENIAN LEADERSHIP PROSPECTS OF REGIONAL COOPERATIONOctober 26, 2004 - 19:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yesterday Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian met with Assistant Administrator of the UN Development Program, Regional Director for Europe and the CIS Kalman Mizsei, who is in Armenia at the moment. As reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting the parties exchanged opinions on the prospects of regional cooperation in the South Caucasus and the circumstances, which are impeding this process. The importance of the role of the private sector and rich potential of the region have been as well considered. Mr. Mizsei also held a meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister to discuss the representation of the Support to Business Development, the UN key document, and the World Investment Report - 2004. He noted that the UNDP is ready to render considerable support to the development of small and medium business and high technologies in Armenia as well as in the issues regarding to the struggle against corruption. To note, since the day of its foundation in 1993 the UNDP has implemented in Armenia programs totaling in $16 million.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
