NGO BEING FORMED BY OPPOSITION MEETINGS PARTICIPANTS DETAINED BY LAW-ENFORCEMENT BODIES IN THEIR TIMEMarch 13, 2003 - 18:35 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The participants of opposition meetings and processions in Yerevan, in their time detained by the law-enforcement bodies of Armenia, intend to establish a non-governmental organization called "February 22." The aim of the union is to coordinate their common efforts in demanding that the authorities compensate for the moral and material damage inflicted on them. As representative of the initiative group Hrayr Melkonian told journalists, by detaining peaceful citizens the Armenian authorities violate human rights and freedoms. In his words, people "who could hamper to the authorities' attempts to falsify the presidential election at the scene" were detained for the most part.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
