ARMENIAN AUTHORITIES SHOULD MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO REVEAL IRREGULARITIES DURING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, US AMBASSADOR SAIDMarch 12, 2003 - 23:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian authorities should make every effort to reveal the irregularities taken place in the course of the presidential elections. As reported by "Mediamax" agency, US ambassador to Armenia John Ordway said today. In his words, the counting of the votes for the second time at some polling stations is "one of the elements capable to prove that the authorities have political will to solve the present problems." The ambassador expressed an opinion that the next steps should be punishing people, who had committed irregularities, elimination of "omissions" in the Electoral Code of Armenia and irregularities in the course of the parliamentary elections. "Long before the presidential elections we expressed an opinion that Armenia was able to hold the elections at a higher level than other countries of the region. Maybe these expectations lead to our disappointment," - J. Ordway said.
