RESULTS OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN ARMENIA COMPLIED WITH FORECASTSMarch 12, 2003 - 19:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian president Robert Kocharian has assessed the results of the second round of the presidential elections as satisfactory. As noted by Robert Kocharian at a press conference today, there was an opportunity to attain even better results though. Nevertheless, in his words, the election returns were in chime with the forecasts made by specialists. As noted by the president, "Arka" agency reports, the election in the country was held in an organized manner on the whole. He noted that the observers' assessment of the election was similar to that given in 1998. However, in R. Kocharian's words, the observation missions were stricter and studied the process in a more detailed way this time. The president noted that when comparing election in Armenia with that in European countries, it is natural for the Armenian one not to fit international standards. However, in R. Kocharian's opinion, one should take into account that "independent Armenia is only 12 and it has just taken the path of integration into European structures."
