DELEGATION OF GEORGE C. MARSHALL EUROPEAN CENTER FOR SECURITY STUDIES VISITED ARMENIA MARCH 15-16

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 15-16 the delegation of George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies headed by the Center Director Dr. John Rose visited Armenia. During three-day visit Dr. Rose had meetings with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tatul Markaryan, Deputy Minister of Defense Artur Aghabekyan, Head of National Security Service Gorik Hakobyan and Chairman of the NA Standing Commission on Defense, National Security and Interior Mher Shahgeldyan where issues of further development of contacts and cooperation between Armenia and the Marshall Center were discussed. Dr. Rose discussed some issues of further cooperation with Dr. Gayane Novikova, the President of the Marshall Center Armenian Alumni Association. Dr. Rose hosted the reception for the Marshall Center Alumni which attended also H.E. John Evans, Ambassador of USA in Armenia, and H.E. Heike Peitsch, Ambassador of Germany in Armenia. The Marshall Center's College of International and Security Studies (CISS) and Conference Center conduct a variety of unique programs involving to date officials from 62 countries. The mission of the Marshall Center is to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships, especially in the field of defense; promoting active, peaceful security cooperation; and enhancing enduring partnerships among the nations of North America, Europe and Eurasia through the security education initiatives. Supported bilaterally by the governments of the United States and Germany, the Marshall Center boasts an international staff and faculty, and is distinct from NATO institutions.
