PanARMENIAN.Net - "We have voiced Armenia's readiness to start a mutually beneficial dialogue with Turkey without any preconditions. I think our posture is quite simple and logical, it has effect today, too," Armenian President
Robert Kocharian stated in the air the Second Armenian TV Channel in the course of a meeting with representatives of the French political establishment in Paris. Answering a question of the French interlocutors on the President's stand over Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposal to form a joint commission of historians to study the fact of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in early past century, the Armenian President specifically said: "Of course the Genocide problem is an obstacle on rapprochement with Turkey, however we say - let us arrange relations, we will not put forward the Genocide problem as a precondition." If the Turkish party wishes to focus exactly on the problem of the Genocide, in R. Kocharian's words, an interstate commission should be formed to consider the issue among others. "Why should the question be narrowed to the level of historians, while at the state level everything can be consider wider and with more use for arrangement of relations," the Armenian leader stated, Regnum news agency reported.
