Kansas Vice-Governor: US Has Much to Learn from Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian delegation lead by Secretary of the National Security Council, Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan met with Adjutant General, National Guard Commander, Major General Todd Bunting and Kansas Vice-Governor Dennis Moore. Defense Ministry Spokesperson, Colonel Seyran Shahsuvaryan told PanARMENIAN.Net S. Sargsyan and T. Bunting discussed bilateral cooperation in peacekeeping, military medicine, as well as actions of the Armenian element fulfilling peacekeeping mission in Iraq. It should be noted that Kansas experts have assisted the training of the element.

During the meeting with D. Moore Mr. Sargsyan expressed gratitude for announcing April 24 a Commemoration Day of Victims of the Armenian Genocide in Kansas. Having noted that the joint measures being held since 2003 are a major constituent of the US-Armenian relations, Mr. Moore said, «Our cooperation is very useful and efficient. We will help to the best of our abilities in a number of issues. Armenia is a very important country, which announced independence after withdrawal from the USSR.» The US is ready to provide any knowledge or assistance to Armenia, he said. «I just want you to know that we learn from you,» Moore said. In his turn, S. Sargsyan remarked states where large Armenian communities live have an especially good attitude towards Armenia. However in case of Kansas it means change of approach, which should be appreciated. «The US has assisted Armenia in strengthening independence, establishment of democratic norms and solution of issues vital to the people since the first day of independence. We are sure that with US assistance Armenia will be able to build a more independent, prospering and good country,» Serge Sargsyan added. Yesterday the delegation lead by the Defense Minister visited the defense complex of Kansas, as well as Fort Riley military base.
