U.S. Congressmen Thanked Armenia for Support to Anti-Terror CoalitionOctober 28, 2005 - 16:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - October 26 the Armenian delegation led by Secretary of the Security Council at the RA President, Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan met with Maj. Gen. Gerald Minetti, director of Coalition Operations at U.S. Central Command, RA MOD Spokesman, Col. Seyran Shahsuvaryan told PanARMENIAN.Net Serge Sargsyan was informed of the situation in the U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility and scheduled operations stretching from Africa to Central Asia. The parties also touched upon mission performed by the Armenian peacekeepers. Besides, the RA Defense Minister attended the center of dislocation of the international coalition forces. When there Maj. Gen. Gerald Minetti noted, "The Armenian-American cooperation is at a high level. I have recently visited Iraq and attended the Armenian unit consisting of 46 people. I must say I am impressed by their service and hope that the bilateral cooperation will continue in future. In his turn Serge Sargsyan said that the recurrent rotation is likely to be exercised in 1.5-2 months. The RA Defense Minister has a telephone conversation with the Commander of the Armenian subdivision in Iraq. On the same day the delegation headed for Washington to meet with Senator Mitch McConnell and Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues Frank Pallone and Joe Knowllenberg. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
