Armenian Defense Minister Joins Republican Party

PanARMENIAN.Net - «I have already applied for joining the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and I think my application will be considered soon,» Armenian Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan stated in Yerevan. In his words, he will be a candidate at the parliamentary election in 2007 representing just the RPA. When commenting on rumors that PM Andranik Margaryan will resign at the coming session of the Party and Sargsyan will occupy his place, the Defense Minister noted «people not having political feeling and not knowing the situation in the country» make such forecasts.

As of putting forward his candidacy for running for the President of Armenia in 2008, the Defense Minister asked not to speed-up the events. «If the RPA and its supporter forces have decisive majority in the newly-elected Parliament, this can be spoken about. Conversations on that topic now are premature,» Sargsyan underscored.
