Armenian Army Won't Become Contractual in Near FutureJanuary 19, 2007 - 14:25 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The ongoing armistice in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict region is the main achievement of the Armenian army during the recent 15 years, RA Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan told a news conference in the Yerevan press center of IA Regnum. In his words, the Armenian army is a developed institute enjoying trust of the society. "However, we are not ready to transit the army to a contractual basis yet. The process will take several years and we do not set such a task now," noted he.At that the Defense Minister said that formation of an efficient army is everyday and hard work. "It's erroneous to think that invitation of one or two generals from another state can raise efficiency of the armed forces," Sargsyan said when commenting on the possible rendering the post of Azeri Deputy Defense Minister to a Turkish General. "There have always been Turkish advisors in the Azeri army, however that are incapable to do anything alone, the RA Defense Minister said. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
