Turkey's accession to EU will close this organization for Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Accession of present-day Turkey to the European Union will close the doors of this organization for Armenia. Turkey poses obstacles to Armenia and attempts to prevent our membership in international organizations or treaties," ARF Bureau's Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office Director Kiro Manoyan told a news conference in Yerevan. "Turkey will use the EU in its own interests," he said.

"Turkey should change before joining the EU. Otherwise, it will be unjustified optimism to hope for any changes after this country is granted membership," he added.

According to Mr Manoyan, the fact that accession talks with Turkey have resumed without approval of all EU member states suggests political calculation by the U.S. and UK. "Thus, membership is not excluded but no reforms will be carried out," he said, Novosti Armenia reports.
