Armenia should take the lead in Karabakh settlementMarch 21, 2008 - 18:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian authorities should not close eyes to the Azerbaijani resolution adopted by the UN, NKR former Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan said."This is an international document and its adoption is a failure of Armenian diplomacy," he said. "Passage of the resolution is not a calamity for Armenia. Our problem is that we focus on prevention of hostilities, failing to understand the international interests correctly," he said. "Armenia should take the lead in Karabakh settlement. Armenia needs new approaches and new negotiators," he added, Novosti Armenia reports. On March 14, the UN General Assembly with 39 votes 'in favor', 7 'against' and 100 abstentions adopted the resolution "On the situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan." The OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair states - Russia, U.S. and France - voted against the measure. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
