Armenia fulfilled majority of commitments undertaken to CoE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met Monday with Ms. Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, to discuss the post-election developments in the republic.



"Armenia is determined to implement the proposals outlined in the recommendations of European structures. The authorities exert major efforts for the purpose. Besides, Armenia fulfilled 90 per cent of commitments it undertook to the Council of Europe, first of all referring to constitutional reform and legislative changes," Minister Nalbandian said.



For her part, Ms. de Boer-Buquicchio said that PACE recommendations caused a hot debate.



"I think progress is obvious. It's extremely important to form an independent commission for investigation into the March 1 events. I am concerned about the people kept in custody and call for their soonest release. I have had no chance to meet any of opposition representatives but I do call on all to establish a constructive dialog," she said, IA Regnum reports.
