With a trifle hope for success, Baku would attempt to resolve Karabakh problem by force

PanARMENIAN.Net - Given frequent bellicose statements by the Azerbaijani leadership, resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict by use of force can't be ruled out, according to Armenia's President.

"At least two persons in a country - Supreme Commander-in-Chief and Defense Minister - should think that hostilities can start at any moment. It means that the army should be on full alert. "Neither war nor peace" situation is maintained thanks to the balance of forces. If it's broken, resumption of military operations is not excluded," Serzh Sargsyan said.

Azerbaijan is the only country in the world boasting about increase of its military expenditures. Even with a trifle hope for success, Baku would attempt to resolve the Karabakh problem by force. But it's not a solution. The meeting with President Aliyev in Saint Petersburg was constructive. But speaking and doing are quite different things. The OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs will visit Yerevan, Stepanakert and Baku to discuss positions of the sides. And I want to reiterate that peace is the only way to move toward resolution of the problem," he said.

The Armenian President reminded that Karabakh has never been a part of Azerbaijan. NKR was annexed to the Azerbaijani republic by a decision of communist party body. "I often hear about territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. And what is to be done with the right of nations to self-determination?" President Sargsyan said, Kommersant reports.
