Fassier: OSCE MG merit is that it prevented resumption of hostilities in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - The recent events in South Ossetia proved that conflicts can't be resolved by use of force, OSCE Minsk Group French Co-chair, Ambassador Bernard Fassier said in Yerevan today.

"Both sides will suffer if military operations are resumed in Karabakh. And the merit of the Minsk Group is that it prevented resumption of hostilities," he said.

"Both Armenia and Azerbaijan suffered from the 5-day war in South Ossetia. Transportation of Armenian cargo was frozen. The BTC pipeline stopped functioning. The consequences of war in Karabakh will be horrible. And I am hopeful that the South Caucasus states understood that war is not the way to resolve conflicts," Amb. Fassier said.
