OSCE MINSK GROUP INITIATED ARMENIAN AND AZERI PRESIDENTS MEETING, HEYDAR ALIYEV STATEDAugust 10, 2002 - 20:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The international mediators have initiated the meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Presidents on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement planned August 14. Azeri leader Heydar Aliyev said it before leaving for Nakhichevan. As far as the topic of the negotiations between the two Presidents is concerned, Aliyev said, "We have much to discuss." Answering the question whether the facts of breaking the cease-fire regime between the conflicting parties will influence the coming meeting, the Azeri President noted, "One should not overstate such facts." In his opinion, the fact that there are no separating forces between the two countries is fundamental. Besides, the violations of the cease-fire regime are not advantageous either for Armenia, or for Azerbaijan, Aliyev stated.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
