Political forces differ on Gagik Beglaryan appointment Mayor of Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - The RA Presidents decree on appointment of Kentron community head Gagik Beglaryan as Mayor of Yerevan was quite unexpected.



According to Prosperous Armenia faction member Aram Safaryan, the replacement is acceptable. "I do not want to make comments. The RPA has the right to replace its members at the post," he said.



Heritage faction member Larisa Alaverdyan labeled the appointment as shame for Armenia. "The authorities proved they know no borders," she said. Mrs. Alaverdyan also informed that Heritage and the Armenian National Congress may nominate a single candidate for the post of Mayor.



According to Republican Party of Armenia member Sukias Avetisyan, the appointment was obvious after the PRA February 28 session. However, he thinks that Beglaryan's appointment before the election will not give him an advantage over the other candidates.
