Summit in Prague showed that Armenia and Turkey mitigated their positions

PanARMENIAN.Net - Meeting between presidents of Armenia Serzh Sargsian and president of Azerbaijan Abdulah Gul in the fringes of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Prague approached positions of both countries towards normalization of bilateral relations, Stepan Grogorian , head of the Analytical Center on globalization and regional cooperation told to a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, touching upon the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border.



As Mr. Grigorian also mentioned, that there has been some progress in that issue. "I see, that Turkey and Armenia seek to normalize bilateral relations, and simultaneously there a tendency of mitigating positions of both sides is observed ," said political scientist and added, that Armenia reduces the pressure related to Genocide issue, while Turkey abandon its firm claims. All these resulted in renouncing preconditions by the sides.



As Grigorian also mentioned, despite softening its position, Turkey has some comments in Karabakh issue. "The demand that troops should be withdrawn does not sound so firm any more, but Turkey however links normalization of Armenia-Turkish relations with parallel solution of Karabakh problem," concluded Stepan Grigorian.
