By-elections possible in Yerevan?June 1, 2009 - 23:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's first President, leader of Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Ter-Petrosyan said his bloc doesn't recognize the outcomes of the May 31 municipal elections and renounces its mandates in Yerevan city council.According to the Law on Yerevan, if a city council member renounces office, the seat remains vacant. The ANC was expected to get 12 or 13 mandates. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
