1.5 MILLION POPULATION LEFT AZERBAIJAN RECENTLY

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to the data of the International Migration Organization, 272 thousand people legally migrated from Azerbaijan in the years 1991-1997. At the same time, as Baku "Turan" agency reports, according to other sources, the number of the people, who had migrated form Azerbaijan in this period makes 1.5 million. They left the country predominantly for Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Germany, Israel and Holland. According to the information, 4 thousand Azeris applied to the Western European countries to take refuge. Belgium and Holland received the most amounts of such appeals. According to the information of the International Migration Organization, the problem of shaded migration, when people leave their country and live abroad illegally, becomes urgent. The problem of migration of women, the number of which is increasing, is becoming topical lately. The existing economic problems are the reasons that underlie this process.
