RA NA speaker invites his Egyptian counterpart to visit Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Currently in Cairo on a formal visit, Armenian parliamentary delegation met Saturday with chairman of the Egyptian People's Assembly speaker, Dr. Ahmad Fathi Sorour.



Briefing on Egypt's foreign policy priorities, Dr. Sorour voiced hope for closer ties between Armenia and Egypt. RA National Assembly Speaker, Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan, for his part, dwelled on Armenia's efforts for establishment of peace and stability through out the South Caucasus and noted that Armenia observes the Armenian-Egyptian interparliamentary agreement signed in 1997.



The officials also referred to economic cooperation, specifically the bilateral intergovernmental meeting due in summer 2010.



Mr. Abrahamyan invited his Egyptian counterpart to visit Armenia.



On January 18 morning, the Armenian delegation is scheduled to meet with Egypt's Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif.
