TURKEY STRIVES FOR UN SECURITY COUNCIL MEMBER

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to the information by "ORT" Russian TV channel, Turkish special mission unit is preparing to participate in the ground military operation in Afghanistan. The more frankly expressed striving to attain membership in the UN Security Council looks more noteworthy against this background. The other day former British Foreign Minister, head of the group of socialist parties of Europe Robin Cook pointed out to the necessity of membership of one of the Islamic states in the UN Security Council. Turkish and Azeri mass media tend to consider this statement as recognition of the necessity for more active involvement of Turkey in the world processes. "Zerkalo" newspaper being published in Baku writes, "if membership of a Moslem state in the UN Security Council becomes necessary, it is most likely that Washington and London will propose Turkey'ñ candidacy. It is not likely that France, Russia and China will find another candidacy, more suitable on all parameters."
