RA President signs into law parliamentary bill on introducing changes to Electoral CodeJune 14, 2010 - 18:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 11, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed into law the parliamentary bill on introducing changes to the Armenian Electoral Code, which earlier was returned to the parliament and approved with consideration of the President’s offers. On June 8, the National Assembly approved the Armenian President’s objections concerning a package of bills on introduction of amendments to the RA Electoral Code, Law on Prosecutor’s Office and on Special Investigative Service. Specifically, the Armenian President objected to the provision on depriving presidential candidates of immunity. President’s special representative in the parliament Gagik Isagulyan presented Serzh Sargsyan’s objection to the parliament. According to him, the President intends to preserve equality for presidential candidates, as the amendments prompt that only the acting president will have the opportunity to enjoy immunity during the election campaign. Besides, the Armenian President signed into law the parliamentary bills on introducing changes to the Armenian Laws on Prosecutor’s Office and on Special Investigative Service.
