Second ‘Zurich’ for Armenian-Turkish normalization on the way, Aram Karapetyan assuresOctober 1, 2010 - 14:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - New Times party leader Aram Karapetyan supposes that Armenian National Assembly speaker Hovik Abrahamyan is in Switzerland to discuss “preparations for a second ‘Zurich’ under the aegis of the United States’. “As far as I know, the process envisages surrender of some liberated territories in exchange for opening of borders. Besides, the U.S. promised Armenia huge investments after the borders are opened,” Karapetyan told journalists on October 1. Commenting on the latest processes in Karabakh talks, he said that if change of power doesn’t take place in Armenia till 2013, a new agreement might be signed or the format of the OSCE Minsk Group may be changed by requirement of Azerbaijan. Protocols on normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations were signed in Zurich on October 10, 2009, for further ratification of parliaments of both countries. However, Turkey refused to submit the protocols to the parliament, alleging “Armenia’s reluctance to compromise on Karabakh issue.” The protocols were not included in the agenda of the Armenian National Assembly over Turkey’s unconstructive position.
