Office of RA Prosecutor General ready to facilitate investigation of Armenian-American crime ring’s caseOctober 21, 2010 - 15:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On October 21, Armenian General Prosecutor Aghvan Hovsepyan received U.S. Embassy Resident Legal Advisor Steve Kessler, U.S. FBI Legal Attachй Kevin Donovan, FBI Regional Security Officer Lance Leveque and Legal Advisor David Khachaturyan. Cooperation between the Armenian and U.S. law enforcement bodies in combating crime was in the focus of the meeting. Donovan thanked the Armenian Prosecutor General for his readiness to cooperate and provided information on the criminal cases of banking and Medicare revealed recently by the U.S. law enforcement bodies, in which Armenians were involved. Donovan specifically said that 73 persons have been charged with money laundering, banking and medical insurance fraud and 32 of them have been arrested. According to the results of the preliminary investigation, the members of the criminal group have formed 118 phony clinics and the sum of forged money totaled USD 162 million. Donovan promised to provide clear information on how many Armenians and Armenian citizens are involved in this criminal case. Highly appreciating the readiness of the Armenian law enforcement bodies to facilitate the case investigation, Donovan noted that the U.S. will apply to Armenia for legal assistance, if necessary. Aghvan Hovsepyan reaffirmed the readiness of the RA General Prosecutor’s Office to assist within its competence the case investigation, the press service of the RA Prosecutor General reported.
