Ruben Hakobyan: Armenian National Congress hampers formation of united opposition in country

PanARMENIAN.Net - Vice Chairman of Heritage party Ruben Hakobyan said that the Armenian National Congress hampers formation of united opposition.

Currently, the opposition plays by the same rules as the authorities, Hakobyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, the Armenian authorities advance towards totalitarianism.

“The coalition should obey the Republican Party of Armenia and accept that Serzh Sargsyan is the only presidential candidate,” Hakobyan said, adding that those, who do not accept it, lose.

He noted that the situation with the opposition is the same.

“According to representatives of the ANC, Levon Ter-Petrosyan is the only presidential candidate from the opposition, while those who do not obey the rules of this game, are forced out of the opposition,” said Hakobyan.

Head of Heritage parliamentary group Stepan Safaryan noted for his part that if the situation continues developing the same way, the main struggle will be inside the opposition and coalition, but not between them.

“The parliamentary elections of 2012 may turn into elections of disappointment, as was the case in 2007,” concluded Safaryan.
