Sergey Minasyan: Vashadze’s statement on Georgia’s readiness to act as mediator in Karabakh issue- a diplomatic courtesy

PanARMENIAN.Net - The statement of Georgian Prime Minister Grigol Vashadze cited by Azeri media is only a diplomatic courtesy, the head of science department at Caucasus Institute stated.

According to Sergey Minasyan, Vashadze tried to pass the desirable for reality.

In an interview to ANS Azerbaijani TV channel, Vashadze stressed Georgia’s interest in rapid resolution of the conflict, expressing readiness to act as mediator

Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Nino Kalandadze denied the statement of Foreign Minister Vashadze, circulated by Azeri media.

“I never heard Minister Vashadze’s statement on Karabakh issue. However, as far as I’m informed, the Minister never mentioned Georgia’s interest in acting as a mediator in Karabakh conflict settlement,” Kalandadze noted. “Conflicts pose danger to regional stability, so the sooner they’re resolved, the better. This is what Minister Vashadze meant,” GHN cited Kalandadze as saying.
