REGULATIONS OF THE NEW "REPUBLIC" PARTY IS SUBMITTED TO THE JUSTICE MINISTRY FOR APPROVAL

PanARMENIAN.Net - YEREVAN, March 3. /Mediamax/. One of the leaders of initiative group for formation of the new "Republic" party, ex-mayor of Yerevan Albert Bazeyan said at today's press conference in Yerevan that the regulations of the party will be submitted to the Justice Ministry of Armenia for approval in the nearest future.

The initiative group mainly consists of closest companions of Prime Minister Vazgen Sarkisian, killed during October 27, 1999 shootings in the Armenian parliament. In February 1999 all of them were included on Sarkisian's initiative in the Republican party of Armenia (RPA), which won the parliamentary elections together with the People's party of Armenia. Now members of the initiative group left RPA and announced about their intention to form "Republic" party.

In reply to the question of Mediamax, Bazeyan said "Republic" party isn't going to take part in the additional parliamentary elections on majority system for a number of vacant districts, to be held in May 2001. However, "Hayastan" group, members of which are also presented in the initiative group, headed by ex premier Aram Sarkisian and Albert Bazeyan, will de facto represent "Republic" in the present National Assembly. --0--
