EP President: investigation of March 1-2 events is “an open wound” for Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The investigation of March 1-2, 2008 events is “an open wound” for Armenia, according to the President of the European Parliament.

As Jerzy Buzek told a news conference in Yerevan, during the meeting with the Armenian President and parliamentary speaker, the parties held an honest and open discussion on the issue.

As the EP President noted, in December, Serzh Sargsyan assured that the investigation is in progress and the Armenian authorities are ready to implement a number of reforms in the country. “The approach fully meets our expectations, so you're on the right way,” Mr. Buzek stressed.

According to him, the discovery of March events will significantly increase the citizens' trust for the country's authorities. “The EP has no intension to put any pressure on Armenia. We're here to assist, having extensive experience to share. The rest depends on you and your region,” he said.
