NATO SECRETARY GENERAL SAYS ARMENIA PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE MATTER OF IMPROVING PEACE IN THE REGION

PanARMENIAN.Net - 16.01.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Today the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II received NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson, visiting Armenia, Mediamax was informed in the press service of Holy Echmiadzin.

Lord Robertson presented the aim of his visit to the Southern Caucasian states to the head of the Armenian Church and stressed Armenia's important role in improving peace in the region. NATO Secretary General highly assessed Armenia's contribution to the development of world civilization and noted the importance of the 1700th anniversary of adoption of Christianity in Armenia as state religion.

Ambassador of Armenia to NATO Vigen Chitechian, who was also present at the meeting, noted that special exhibition will be organized in NATO headquarters within the framework of festivities, dedicated to the 1700th anniversary. -0-
