YouTube shows new video on March 1, 2008 tragic events in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 28, YouTube video-sharing website posted a video named “Samvel Harutyunyan’s shooting March 1, 2008.”

Samvel Harutyunyan was one of the 10 victims who died in March 2008 tragic events.

The fact whether a person being murdered on the video is Samvel Harutyunyan himself hasn’t been verified yet. It’s notable that the video was posted amid attempts to establish a dialogue between the authorities and opposition, which insisted on deeper investigation of the events and punishment of those responsible for deaths.

From February 20, 2008, the Armenian opposition led by first president Levon Ter-Petrossian, who ran for presidency in 2008, but was not elected, held rallies in the central part of Yerevan, protesting against the election results. The protest actions resulted in unrest and clashes between the police and rally participants on March 1-2. According to the Office of RA Prosecutor General, around 200 people were injured, 10 people were killed, and over 100 people were arrested.
