GROUP OF ARMENIAN VETERANS OF AFGHAN WAR 1979-89 CONFERRED WITH RUSSIAN ORDERS

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yesterday Russian Ambassador to Armenia Anatoly Dryukov conferred Russian orders "For Bravery" and "For Service in Battle" on 9 Armenian veterans of Afghan war of 1979-89. The Ambassador stated at the ceremony devoted to the presentation of the medals that the decorating should have taken place long before. At the same time he expressed his gratitude to the Armenian Committee of the Afghanistani war veterans for displaying the activity due to which the "medals found their owners". In all 23 Armenian soldiers who did military service in Afghanistan were presented to the decoration. However, in Dryukov's words, not all of them could receive their orders, for some of them are not alive and some are absent from Armenia. It should be noted that about 4 000 Armenian soldiers took part in the Afghan war, 100 of them were killed and 300 disabled.
