28 FOREIGN CITIZENS APPEALED TO GET REFUGEE STATUS IN ARMENIA THIS YEAROctober 29, 2003 - 23:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Within the 9 months of this year 28 foreign citizens have appealed for refugee status or temporary asylum to Armenia. Representative of the UN high commissioner for refugees Lloyd Dakin told "Arminfo" agency. In his words, 12 out of the 28 were satisfied, 11 out of them being Iraqi citizens, another - an ethnic Kurd citizen of Turkey. The rest are being considered. "In the view of absence of the necessary arguments" 4 were rejected, one of them being citizen of Georgia.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
