Armenian pensioners to be provided with plastic cards for free

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arthur Grigoryan said that pensioners will have the opportunity to receive pensions through plastic cards from January 2011.

A procedure for pension payments has been approved during a governmental sitting as part of pension reforms implementation, Grigoryan told journalists.

“The document defines two types of payments – cash and cashless. Pensioners will have the right to choose the payment type and bank. The Ministry will publish a list of banks, which will cash the cards. The decision is aimed at modernization of the mechanism for pensioners’ servicing and will allow reducing the lines and increasing the competition for services provision in the field,” Grigoryan said, adding that the state will cover the expenses for plastic cards service.
