World weightlifting champ Nazik Avdalyan to undergo surgery

PanARMENIAN.Net - World weightlifting champ Nazik Avdalyan will undergo a surgery on Wednesday, April 27.

On Tuesday, president of the Armenian National Olympic Committee (ANOC) Gagik Tsarukyan, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Arthur Petrosyan and Ministers of Healthcare harutyun Kushkyan visited Avdalyan at Erebuni medical center.

“They consulted with doctors and Mr. Tsarukyan asked to inform him about the checkup results immediately after the final diagnosis is made. He also promised to finance a treatment abroad in case of necessity,” weightlifting women’s team coach Artashes Nersisyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Avdalyan got in a car crash in April 26 on Yerevan-Gyumri motorway. She was taken to a Gyumri hospital with multiple bone fractures and a spine injury and later transferred to Yerevan's Erebuni medical centre for additional examination.

2008 European champion and 2009 European championship silver winner, Nazik Avdalyan won the world champion’s title in Goyang, South Korea. Then she missed several tournament because of an injury. Returning, she won the Armenian championship and started training for the 2011 world championship.
