Yerevan Zoo entrance free for kids under 16 on May 1

On May 1, Yerevan Zoo officially declares the season opened and celebrates this occasion with great fun and festive mood.

The Zoo will open its doors for the celebrations at 9am and work until 7pm, with live music, performances and interesting games.

Heroes of fairy tales and cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Sponge Bob will greet the visitors at the entrance; theatrical performances and musical events will take place from 11am through 4pm.

New signboards at all enclosures will provide a complete picture of the zoo’s animal species and their origin. The Animal Feeding Program will offer an opportunity to observe how the animals are fed.

Zoo Director Ruben Khachatryan and Yerevan's Mayor Taron Margaryan will hand out certificates to the participants of the Earth Day Contest “Let’s welcome the birds”, who built bird houses for the Zoo.

In several open air shows the visitors will get interesting information on reptiles, guinea pigs and rabbits, Yerevan Zoo website says.

Several contests will be held here during the day; the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) will organize contests and quizzes focusing on nature and environment, and the winners will receive awards.

The successful animal adoption program as well as the Zoo School initiative will also be presented.

With support of Yerevan Municipality, all children aged under 16 are granted free entrance to the zoo on May 1.
