EU SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR SOUTH CAUCASUS HEIKKI TALVITIE TO ARRIVE IN YEREVAN JUNE 28
Special representative of the European Union (EU) for the South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie will arrive in Yerevan June 28, reported German Ambassador to Armenia Hans-Wolf Bartels. In his words, Talvitie will discuss issues referring to Wider Europe: New Neighborhood initiative with the Armenian leadership. As noted by Bartels, the inclusion of the three South Caucasian countries in that program evidences the EU interest towards the region. Speaking of the impact of the factor of Nagorno Karabakh on cooperation between Armenia and the EU, the German Ambassador noted that the solution of the problem is not a precondition for bilateral relations. At the same time he emphasized the need for steps to settle the conflict, "if Armenia wishes to fully use the potential of the EU countries."
