ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER AND EU SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR SOUTH CAUCASUS DISCUSSED EU-ARMENIA RELATIONS
Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian and newly appointed EU special representative for the South Caucasus Heikki Talvitie, who is in Armenia on a regional visit at present have discussed today the issues of relationship between the European Union and the South Caucasian countries, Armenia particularly. Talvitie presented the Armenian party the priorities of his activity emphasizing the stimulation of cooperation in the South Caucasus, preservation of links between the countries of the region as well as the contribution to the regional conflict settlement. The EU special representative also expressed his readiness to assist the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs in Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. In the course of the meeting the parties also discussed the issues of the death penalty cancellation in Armenia as well as reforms in the electoral system and mass media freedom.
