It is hard to estimate the number of Armenian refugees from Iraq, as it will depend mainly on the duration and intensity of the military operation launched there. Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian stated. In his words, due to the military actions held in Iraq the opportunities for Armenia to contribute to Iraqi Armenians are extremely limited both in practical and political aspects. "We can render aid to our compatriots only when they are outside Iraq," - the minister noted. At the same time he emphasized that the foreign ministry proposal was accepted at the government's sitting yesterday, according to which the relevant departments are already preparing to receive refugees from that region.
