ARMENIAN SPEAKER: IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE CARE OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
On the invitation of French Senate Chairperson Christian Poncelet the third meeting of Speaker of the Parliaments of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan Artur Baghdasarian, Nino Burjanadze and Murtuz Aleskerov was held in Versaille yesterday. As reported by the Press Service of the National Assembly of Armenia, in the course of the meeting Christian Poncelet noted the importance of such meetings from the point of view of development of parliamentary diplomacy. He said he hoped for the solution of a range of problems in the South Caucasus to be found via discussion. It should be noted that besides the exchange of views on tourism development, discussion on "Evaluation of cultural legacy" was also held. In the course of the conversation Artur Baghdasarian called on members of the Azeri delegation to make a step towards the future, noting it was necessary to take care of the regional development. As stated by the Armenian Parliament Chairman, "the atmosphere, necessary for conflict settlement should be formed in the South Caucasian countries." It should be noted that yesterday the parliament chairs held a meeting with UNESCO Director General Koïchiro Matsuura, French political experts. It should be reminded that, according to the understanding reached before, the next meeting of the four Speakers will be held in Azerbaijan, then - in Armenia.
