CBA denies reports on Armenian banks refusing to service Syrian citizens

Head of Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) Financial Monitoring Center believed Armenian media publications suggesting the country’s banks refuse to service Syrian citizens as unfounded.

“The banks put forth certain requirements, with identity verification and a number of other documents among them. The client won’t be serviced in the face of any problems with the documents,” Daniel Azatyan said.

In this context, the expert noted Armenian commercial banks impose no restrictions on Syrian citizens.
