"The US government fully supports the position of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. We recognize the sovereignty and independence of Azerbaijan and do no know a state called Nagorno Karabakh. We endorse Ilham Aliyev's readiness to settle the conflict via negotiations", Ambassador Rino Harnish stated when commenting on US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans's statements. To remind, the latter when addressing the Armenian community in the Berkley University stated that Karabakh cannot be given to Azerbaijan. Besides the US diplomat numerously used the wording "Armenian Genocide". However lately the US officials said that John Evans's statement should be viewed as his personal capacity.
