
Police in Moscow have detained members of a criminal gang on suspicion of trying to seize state property worth some 10 billion rubles ($311 million).
"It has been established that the group included employees of two commercial banks, representatives of a private intermediate court, officials from [the property watchdog] Rosimushchestvo as well as managers from a management company that was in charge of the state enterprises," the Interior Ministry said on a statement on Thursday .
Four members of the gang are being held.
The state assets targeted in the scheme included stadiums, gasoline stations, culture centers and listed buildings, police said, RIA Novosti reported.
