The OSCE and the US Embassy urge the Azeri authorities to thoroughly investigate the killing of the Monitor opposition magazine editor-in-chief Elmar Guseynov. OSCE representative for freedom of mass media Miklosh Kharashi stated that the assassination of the independent journalist is a great loss for the Azeri press. The release of US Embassy says, in part, that Elmar Guseynov's killing on the democratic development and freedom of speech in Azerbaijan and the absence of this strong and tireless person will be felt for a long time. The Embassy appealed to the Azeri authorities not to spare efforts to investigate the murder and call to account those to blame.
