Right of nations to self-determination is an accepted principle in Uruguay, President of Uruguay’s House of Representatives said.

As Jorge Orrico noted at a meeting between Uruguayan and Artsakh MPs, Uruguay has always been a supporter of freedom.

“Though our country holds no official position on the issue, we accept the reality,” the official said, adding that his country stands ready to back Nagorno Karabakh Republic, despite its small size.

“We advocate peaceful settlement of conflicts and stand ready to assist in the process,” he said.

Upon completion of the meeting, Speaker of NKR National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan noted that the day symbolizes a new process that will be continued, Karabakh-open.info reported.
